foto friday: puddles

Friday. A wet friday. Its been raining non stop ( I kid you not) since wednesday.

On wednesday, when it was still kinda sorta raining, my mum rang me to tell me of some awesome Canon competition ( for australian residents only, sorry!) that could win me a new camera ( yes I do need a new one) but it had to include an umbrella, I said to her " I need it to rain more". Obviously this was the wrong thing to say as now it hasnt stopped....

But it did mean that I was able to get some photos of an umbrella :) My ever helpful Amahli suggested she jump in muddy puddles whilst I took the photo. 20 photos later and with one very wet but happy child, this is the ones I liked :)

I sent one in, then asked Tim which one he liked. Of course he liked the one I didnt send in..... but hopefully, HOPEFULLY, ( but really thinking it will happen because some of the photos are amazing!) I might just win something :)

This weeks photo is nothing overly spectacular. Its just a gorgeous photo of my girl.
The thing is, shes wearing my wedding tiara, which exactly 8 years ago this week I wore. And I realised, right before my eyes, this beautiful girl is growing up.
Yeah I know, kids have a tendency to do that, but seriously, I WATCHED her get older as she put it on. I kid you not.



This is her first portrait in this blog.. so many posts ago...



Scary really! Theres been so many times when I have wanted to stop, but this is such a great way to remember my kids and I know they'll thank me for it someday!

This week is her last week of school before holidays and in this week shes performing for the very first time at the Glasshouse ( big entertainment centre in Port) and going to her first fairytale ball.
Somehow I managed to wangle my way into doing photos for it :) I cant WAIT :)
Will I cry? More than likely. But can you imagine a hall filled with about 200 princes and princesses????

My new friend

I have a new friend.. and I mean REALLY new. Like a week old :)

His gorgeous mum and I have been friends for awhile, we were pregnant with our thirds at the same time and her little blessing was born two days before Amahli.

But this little person, who wasnt entirely planned ( by mum that is) was thought to be following the trail of THREE girls... and turned out to be a boy :)

I tried to stay away, give mum space, really I did. But she was keen and happy for visitors so I raced over to take my first "real" baby shoot.

The thing with hospitals is the lighting is really bad. But some gentle editing, this little guy turned out just perfect :)

friday photo :Be still

Had one of those moments this week, just between me and God.

Its been a crazy week, one where I have been lost inside my own head, thoughts whirling through and out again, nothing really staying still, nothing really getting done, everything just all up in the air....

Yesterday I got up and went for a walk, mostly because I was awake and couldnt get back to sleep but also because I knew it would still my mind. ( Its funny that the one time of day I can be alone with my thoughts and more often than not, my mind goes blank :) )

As I arrived at the beach on the grey and stormy looking morning, I watched in awe at the sun, powering through the clouds at every possible hole it could. I was blown away by the quiet but awesome power it seemed to show in this beautiful display.
And I was stopped, the problems and things I had to sort out left as I just let the moment BE.

And how thankful for that moment I was. Remembering that though at times everything seems out of control, out of focus, off course, with no direction, God knows EXACTLY whats is, what has been, and whats going to be.




So I let go and was still, and enjoyed this moment of clarity when the worries drift away, even for a little while, and I can just enjoy the sunrise and a calm heart :)

Ive started walking again :) My mornings begin early, on a beach, ALL BY MYSELF. And my brain, which is noisier than my three children put together, but at least it doesnt stop me from taking photos :)

I saw this little flower and totally could see how I wanted it to turn out once Id edited it.

Its almost perfect ;) Its tweaked with a little vintage denim which brought out the blues in it. The background is untouched.

Its her tooth, ANOTHER one, that was so lose it turned itself sideways.

And guess what? I pulled that buggar out :) My first and last tooth pull, EVER.
And you know what she said to me once it was out?

"See Mum, I told you I would keep growing up!"
